Pay Grade: 13

Reports To: Senior Human Resources Manager

Salary: $90,000-$105,000/yr.

Job Summary

The HR Business Partner - Employee Relations supports efforts to build a positive culture of accountability, promoting team member welfare and recognition. Position assists the Labor Relations and Employee Relations teams with investigations, record-keeping, informational requests, training, and various administrative tasks related to Labor and Employee Relations. Position is also accountable for assisting Human Resources and operational management in achieving positive employee relations environments. Role is responsible for a wide variety of analysis, interpretation, development, implementation and administration of issues and support involving team members at both union and non-union environments.

This position is an onsite role at our client site in Redmond, WA. The option for a hybrid working schedule is available after 3-6 months of settling into the role.

Relocation bonus can be offered to suitable candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding advice and guidance to managers relating to Employee Relations Issues

  • Ensure advice and policy guidance is communicated in line with our Core Signature and employment law standards

  • Support the design, communication and continual improvement of employee relations resources

  • Develops and delivers training related to Employee Relations topics and procedures

  • Responds to HR inquires submitted to, e-mail and other communication channels that involve Employee Relations matters

  • Partners with Field HR, Legal, Labor Relations, Risk Management and Operations for resolution of escalated HR inquires

  • Assists in internal team member investigations as assigned

  • Coordinate labor relations projects to ensure their completion in a timely and efficient manner

  • Provides support to the Labor Relations team on collective bargaining, including compiling draft documents, fulfilling informational requests, and coordinating post-negotiations activity

  • Assists in preparation for contract negations and arbitration hearings

  • Provide guidance to human resources and operations management in resolving labor relations concerns and issues ensuring alignment with company practices and collective bargaining agreements

  • Keep all stakeholders informed about labor relations matters, changes in policies and any potential areas of concern

  • Assist with the interpretation and administration of labor contracts

  • Design and deliver training on labor relations initiatives

  • Maintains recordkeeping of agreements, materials, arbitrations, grievances, or any other related documents

  • Be a champion for great people management

  • Other duties as assigned

Experience

  • Real-world experience supporting or implementing employee relations standards and investigations

  • 2+ years of Labor Relations experience in a multi-location unionized environment strongly preferred

  • Experience conducting effective & objective investigations and advising on corrective action in unionized environments

  • Experience in grievance handling and negotiations preparation

  • Labor relations experience including interpreting and advising managers on collective agreements, participating in grievances/arbitrations, bargaining and negotiations is strongly preferred.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Knowledge of labor and employment laws, e.g., NLRA, FLSA and FMLA

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational, follow-through, and workload planning skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities while adhering to processes and deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex associate relations issues at a large, multi-unit organization preferred.

  • Previous experience as part of a centralized HR environment, preferably in a corporate setting.

  • Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills; advanced skills preferred.

  • Experience responding to common inquiries or complaints from associates, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.

  • Strong presentation skills required.

  • Sense of urgency with the ability to respond in a service-oriented, timely and efficient manner.

  • Great interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

  • Strong administrative skills including data entry, filing, reporting, etc.
