Meta Hearing Research Scientist in Redmond, Washington

Summary:

The Health and Wellbeing Team at Meta is seeking a Hearing Scientist who will report to the Director of Health and Wellbeing Research and work alongside other members of the Health and Wellbeing team, aiming to improve health outcomes throughout the world. We seek someone with a drive to improve the lives of people with hearing impairments and a drive for innovation. This is an opportunity in hearing science to contribute through research to the developing Health and Wellness program and products at Meta.

Required Skills:

Hearing Research Scientist Responsibilities:

  1. Be the domain expert in hearing science (psychoacoustics, auditory and speech perception) research, collaborating with other clinical research scientists, clinical operations, and biostatisticians.

  2. Contribute to the design and execution of research study protocols, for both internal and external studies with research organizations and vendors.

  3. Align operational aspects of research with the needs of other internal stakeholders including engineering, legal, and product requirements.

  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect, record, and maintain accurate research data

  5. contribute to maintenance of relevant study documentation for reporting and compliance.

  6. Assist research team with the assessment and implementation of new processes to gain efficiencies for study set up and execution.

  7. Perform and interpret hearing-based assessments in relation to wearable devices

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. PhD, or Masters in Speech and Hearing Sciences, Audiology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or related field

  2. 6+ years experience in relevant hearing science products or research

  3. Experience working in multidisciplinary product development teams

  4. Experience in execution and reporting of hearing science research projects

  5. Demonstrated track record working with cross-functional teams spanning clinical research, engineering, product management, legal, etc.

  6. Proficiency with audio testing equipment, software, data analytical tools

  7. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with MATLAB or Python

  2. Research experience in hearing aids at a University, Research Center or Manufacturer

  3. Product development experience for a hearing aid manufacturer and/or managed clinical studies for a medical device company

  4. Experience working with engineers to develop and test hearing algorithms.

Public Compensation:

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
