Business Risk & Insurance team is looking for an experienced leader & finance/business professional who is passionate about analyzing business risk, is data driven, enjoys working through challenging business scenarios, and can deliver insights to drive timely decision making and support Microsoft risk framework. You will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment in a truly global role. This role is a solution-oriented position, with a need for sound judgment to select methods and techniques for risk mitigation.

This role will support senior business risk team and will partner with various external insurance risk brokers to provide effective risk mitigation evaluation framework. The Insurance Manager oversees technical contract reviews and project risk assessments, including appropriate insurance placement for Microsoft. The Insurance Manager is responsible for supporting the Director of Risk Management in managing Risk Management and Insurance programs. The position is a critical leader within the team charged with assessing, developing,and monitoring Microsoft’s insurance program. This leader will partner closely with internal stakeholders and with our insurance brokers.


  • Partners with internal stakeholders to develop risk transfer programs and leads with a compliance focus

  • Ensure effective documentation of all related policies, processes and governance is maintained

  • Develop risk renewal strategies and insurance program structures that align with organization's risk tolerance, which include captives, self-insurance, risk transfer, and other methods

  • Directs insurance placement and policy review, overseeing activities of the insurance broker, ensuring timely delivery of expected deliverables and outcomes

  • Review insurance requirements of contractual agreements, providing feedback to business operations teams

  • In collaboration with Director of Risk Management and additional internal stakeholders, performs analysis of existing and emerging risk exposures, recommending actions for mitigation through insurance as appropriate

  • Utilize and develop analytics, including benchmarking and other metrics, to evaluate loss trends, ultimately developing models to understand the total cost of risk

  • Quantify financial impacts of existing and emerging risks facing the organization to internal stakeholders, including senior management

  • Participates inM&A transactions, aiding M&A team with review of integration plans from an insurance perspective

  • Manage and evaluate policy-term changes in risk and exposure, coordinating with Insurance Risk Manager, Director of Risk Management, and other stakeholders as needed


Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business AND 7+ years experience with background in treasury, finance, or accounting.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) AND 10+ years experience with background in treasury, finance, banking, or accounting.

  • Excellent project management and communication skills
