Microsoft Corporation Global Lease Strategy Program Manager -Datacenter Engineering in Redmond, Washington

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.

The Datacenter Engineering (DCE) Global Lease Strategy Program Manager will be part of a team responsible for the delivery of leased datacenters globally. The DCE Global Lease Strategy Program Manager is an individual contributor role that will participate in various strategic global lease initiatives, global lease opportunities, and global lease governance on behalf of the DCE Global Lease team. They will work closely with internal regional lease delivery stakeholders including site acquisition, engineering, integration, construction, and operations. The Global Lease Strategy Program Manager will have the skillset to be able manage multiple projects/initiatives concurrently, manage external strategic lease discussions, coordinate with internal stakeholders and provide executive communication to leadership, when required.

This position will support the growth of our Datacenter Lease portfolio globally and will support governance for the lease program for Datacenter Engineering.

This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.

Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.

This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to (50)%.

Responsibilities

  • Govern technical specifications for Datacenter Engineering

  • Coordinate with internal team of program managers, architects, engineers and designers for lease design approach including region specific requirements

  • Support onboarding lease providers to Microsoft technical requirements or new datacenter types

  • Consult with the relevant internal engineering/architectural SMEs on technical matters as appropriate

  • Provide technical support to lease site acquisition team on design-related items at a strategic level

  • Evaluate and grade lease providers engagement, documentation and engineering staff responsiveness

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years’ experience in leased datacenter design and/or contracts.

  • 2+ years’ experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years’ experience in mission critical or hi-tech industry such as datacenters, largescale manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or oil gas industry, with proven track record in design and/or project/program management capacity.

  • An understanding of datacenter lease market

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
