Primary developer for high complexity functions. Provide technical support and expertise to other development team members. Provide development lead with work estimates. Drive Technology Architecture decisions. Create technical design documents. Create development environment. Ensure that code meets development specifications and is maintainable (comments, supporting documentation) Create and execute unit tests exercising the code’s functionality and compatibility with other features prior to turning code over to test team. Communicate and defend design, requirements, feature set, functionality and/or limitations of systems. Resolve code issues raised by analysis or test teams. · Work with developers and other members of project team, MS product and program managers, and vendors in accomplishing objectives. Develop tools to aid the development process (e.g. basic test automation for all developers to run locally prior to check-in) Participate in code reviews of other developer’s work. Deliverables include Technical Architecture, Technical Design Specification, Thoroughly commented Code and Technical User Guide. Story Behind the Need – Business Group & Key Projects • Business group – C+E • Surrounding team & key projects – The candidate’s main responsibility will be maintaining and updating the current application • Purpose of this team – The team handles whole sales for Microsoft products, the team is the front interface for resellers and retailers to come in and place orders against Microsoft or Microsoft branded products., ex: xbox, surface. The team has interaction with suppliers, channel operations, factories, carriers, warehouses, and retailers. The current application being used has about 1,000 active users and sells about a half a billion dollars of sales. • Reason for the request – Backfill of CS resources, need help supporting the application. • Motivators for this need – Right skills • Budget approved (Y/N) – Yes Typical Day in the Role • Task Break Down (weekly): • 5% meetings • 70% development • 25% support- end users may have issues with their accounts, make sure they are meeting corporate compliance. • Interaction • Low with sponsor • Moderate with team • Chance for an extension: Yes possible Compelling Story & Candidate Value Proposition • This role allows the opportunity to support an important application with high visibility. Candidate Requirements • Years of experience: • 5-8 years of experience • Degrees or certifications: • N.A, work history is more important • Disqualifiers: • Less than 18 months remaining on their clock • Job hopping- contracts for less than 6 months • Best vs Average: • Full stack developer, experience with SQL or stored procedures, backend developer • (Not front end developer work) • Performance Indicators: • During scrum meetings, review their quality of work and number of items completed. • Determine if their solutions are fixing issues and not causing more escalations • Burndown the number of corporate compliance items fixed.
