At Facebook Reality Labs, digital content turbocharges our scientific explorations. If you're a technical artist with a passion for leading teams, developing people, and working across a wide variety of research initiatives, this is rare opportunity to join AR/VR pioneers. In our collaborative environment, you’ll partner with expert research scientists, hardware engineers and software developers to build groundbreaking prototypes and create the technology that makes AR/VR universal. Required Skills:

  1. Analyze, evaluate, design, direct, develop, and integrate digital content for advanced AR/VR research initiatives, prototypes and user experiences

  2. Identify and prioritize digital content needs across a dozen different research teams

  3. Provide creative and technical leadership for innovative digital content solutions

  4. Perform design and content reviews that improve quality and efficiency

  5. Support a team of technical artists, providing guidance, feedback, education, performance feedback, coaching and mentoring

  6. Identify, recruit, interview and hire technical artists

  7. Educate team members and researchers on digital content best practices and techniques

  8. Manage hardware and software for the team, including render farms and licensing

  9. Collaborate in a team environment across multiple scientific and engineering disciplines

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant visual art or technical field such as Computer Animation, Graphic Design or Computer Science

  2. 5+ years experience with a high level programming language such as Python, C#, Java, Perl, MEL or MAXScript

  3. 5+ years experience with 3D asset pipelines and digital content creation tools such as Max, Maya, Modo, Blender, Houdini, Substance or Photoshop

  4. 5+ years experience creating content for games, film, television, AR/VR or related fields

  5. 3+ years managing content creators such as artists, modelers or animators

  6. Proven track record of professional content development, including shipping one or more products using digital content creation tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in any of the following areas:

  2. Machine learning or deep learning

  3. Synthetic data generation for ML training

  4. Off-line rendering, including knowledge of Vray, Renderman, Redshift, or Cycles

  5. Game engines such as Unreal or Unity

  6. Shader development

  7. Shipping AR/VR applications
