Microsoft Corporation Forge Lead Designer in Redmond, Washington

343 Industries is looking for an experienced System or Level Designer to lead our Forge initiative. We are looking for a strong, creative leader with a passion for great tools and empowering gamers to create user-generated content (UGC). You will play an important role in the future of Halo Forge, meeting the needs of the Community, developing new features for Forge, and ensuring a great end-user experience. This role requires a tremendous blend of skillsets. The ideal candidate has strong System Design skills, but also understands what it takes to make great levels and how to develop strong tools for all our fans to use to create them.



  • Lead the Vision for Forge going forward

  • Help create a diverse culture that embraces all types of gamers

  • Work and communicate cross-discipline to create the best UGC tools available

  • Design and document upgrades, new features, and improved workflows for Forge

  • Prioritize and scope features and requests across disciplines

  • Oversee the review of internal Forge maps and participate in Community-created content

  • Collaborate with the Multiplayer Team to support and add their new features to Forge

  • Drive consistency for how Forge and other UGC content is experienced and lives within the greater game

  • Master the Forge toolset



  • 6+ years of game design experience (at least 1 as a Systems Designer)

  • At least 2 shipped AAA titles, or at least 1 AAA title with ongoing live service

  • Understanding of a number of AAA tool sets, proprietary or otherwise

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel BONUSES :

  • Knowledge of industry-standard, 3D art packages (Maya, Max, etc.)

  • Professional UI/UX and/or Level Design experience

  • Passion for gaming and game development, especially Multiplayer Shooters

  • Deep knowledge of the Halo IP

  • Background in creating maps within Forge

  • Experience designing and helping create toolsets for internal or external use

  • Experience with other UGC tools (Doom Snapmap, Far Cry Arcade, Little Big Planet, etc.)
