Business Overview : With the launch of Microsoft 365 at https://blogs.office.com/en-us/2017/07/10/introducing-microsoft-365/ and significant investments in our field- and corporate-sales engines (WWIS), O365 is expected to accelerate growth in FY19. In addition, there is tremendous focus across the company in improving customer acquisition specially in our mid-size customer segment.

Job Overview : The Commercial Office Finance team is accountable for building driver-based, top-line revenue targets, executing near- and intermediate-term forecasts used to support external guidance processes, providing clear line of sight to business performance via regular business reporting, and partnering with PMG and WCF in identifying key opportunities for future growth. The current opening for a Finance Manager will support our mid-size customer segment, or Corporate segment (WWIS). This is a rare opportunity to support a business early in its lifecycle and provides the candidate broad visibility to and influence over Microsoft’s strategic shift toward sustainable and scalable go-to-market approaches.

Responsibilities

Financial modeling: Build robust, driver-based financial models to guide decision-making on business structure, strategy, pricing, revenue, and strategic direction. Effectively manage multiple demands across Marketing and Sales with the ability to focus effort on core drivers and simplifying when appropriate

Financial analysis: Conduct financial analysis to provide health of business readouts and trends, and articulate those findings to finance and marketing leadership to support decision making

Business partnering: Partner with Product Marketing to drive clear planning assumptions that incorporate product roadmaps, revenue strategies, and strategic investments and drive growth initiatives. Work closely with Worldwide Commercial Business Finance and Worldwide Inside Sales teams to ensure accurate and timely performance messaging and target setting assumptions

Rhythm of Business: Conduct regular revenue and key performance indicators reviews, develop quarterly forecast and target, and support business reviews

Qualifications

  • Synthesize and communicate complex analyses; craft straight-forward storylines for senior management and key business partners (non-Finance and Finance, alike)

  • Thorough and detail-oriented, yet able to “see the forest for the trees” when assessing what the numbers mean

  • Experience with managing a regular, time-constrained process, including a passion for continuous improvement

  • Able to handle multiple stakeholders and workstreams and prioritize as needed [including pushing back]

  • Ability to handle a high degree of ambiguity, and fast-paced change management

  • Proven ability to structure, build and manage complex, interconnected spreadsheet models

  • Prior experience with MS Sales, reporting cubes, pivot tables and other tools ideal

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, or controllership with a strong analytical foundation

  • BS/BA degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Math or Economics, Master's degree a plus.
