The Margin Strategy and Investment Optimization (MSIO) finance team is an exciting and fast-evolving finance team at the forefront of Microsoft’s Cloud-first strategy. We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to help shape the future of our cloud products.

The team’s charter is to build out end to end Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure while driving down unit cost of capacity, ensuring cloud services achieve both profit and gross margin growth. As a crucial member of the team you’ll also support long term bets and drive competitive intelligence to keep Microsoft Cloud ahead of competition. All while enhancing transparency into Cloud Infrastructure investments, safeguarding shareholder interest.

The MSIO Finance team is looking for a Finance Manager to be a key player on the Server Product Cost Management team. This person will be a member of the team whose primary purpose is to provide finance partnership, insight and analysis for the Cloud Hardware Supply Chain team…the team responsible for the bulk of Microsoft’s Cloud Server/Rack spend.

Responsibilities

This role is a great opportunity to:

  • Partnering with the sourcing teams to achieve accurate and predictable financial results throughout product lifecycles via:

  • Accurate Server/Rack product cost forecasts and purchase order rates

  • Analysis and insights related to forecasted rates for Server/Racks

  • Cost saving tracking and reporting

  • Driving insightful financial analysis of business results, including analysis and reports which drive monthly financial reviews

  • Providing thorough, insightful financial analysis of key suppliers

  • Assist in testing and the development of systems and tools

  • Working closely with other parts of the MSIO Finance team to ensure a seamless flow of information and processes

Qualifications

Our team values the following set of skills, which this role will help you enhance:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, math, computer science or engineering. MBA or the equivalent of work experience to an MBA program and/or CPA preferred

  • 3+ years of financial analysis or consulting experience with progressive advancement within discipline, including 1+ years of delivering strategic projects

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking & financial modeling skills

  • Proven leadership skills, with demonstrated results in proactively driving and delivering high-value projects both as an individual and through v-teams

  • Comfort working at multiple altitudes, from strategic-level projects to detailed cost analysis

  • Strong partnering capabilities, with the ability to influence others without direct authority

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and uncertainty in a business that evolves at a hyper pace

  • Self-starter with strong business acumen and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities

  • Effective communication, cross group collaboration and interpersonal skills

  • Experience in supply chain, capacity planning and/or cloud infrastructure related field a plus
