Microsoft Corporation Finance Director Cloud Infrastructure Accounting Enablement in Redmond, Washington

The Margin Strategy and Investment Optimization (MSIO) finance team is an exciting and fast-evolving finance team at the forefront of Microsoft’s Cloud-first strategy.

The Cloud Infrastructure Strategy, Planning & Delivery (CISPD) finance team is responsible for supporting delivering cloud capacity at the right time, right place and right cost. CISPD is also responsible for enabling new programs, incubatory and strategic deals, and non-standard partnerships with 3rd parties. We are seeking an experienced Finance Director to provide leadership, vision and financial expertise running the Cloud Infrastructure Accounting Enablement team. The Accounting Enablement team designs and delivers efficient accounting operations & solutions for MSFT’s cloud infrastructure through scalable, agile & compliant systems and processes. This role will manage a multi-billion dollar portfolio influencing the design of systems & processes, providing key insight to business partners, and executing monthly financial close processes. This role will collaborate with Microsoft partners globally, including Finance, Tax, Treasury, Trade, Sourcing and Business Operations to optimize systems, processes and accounting for Cloud Infrastructure.


  • Lead a high performing team to enable and add to thought leadership for Business Enablement.

  • Perform accounting and asset management to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

  • Design and execute scalable accounting & reporting solutions to enable stakeholders with optimal and compliant systems and processes, and key analysis and insights.

  • Partner with Finance to drive insight and clarity on accounting guidance to help inform business decisions and financial planning (forecast, targets, long range planning).

  • Drive compliance with GAAP/IFRS, SOX and MS Policy; enable controls to safeguard assets and accurate financial reporting.

  • Collaborate with global stakeholders to meet regulatory, statutory, audit and compliance requirements.

  • Build and manage close partnerships with teams across Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Business.

  • Grow the talent of the organization and prepare individuals for larger, high-impact jobs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 12+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 10+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience

  • OR equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • People management experience

  • Previous accounting experience in Cloud, supply chain, fixed assets, leases and/or multi-national companies preferred

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and leadership skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with all levels of management

  • Strong understanding of GAAP, Internal Controls, and SOX

  • Demonstrated systems and process improvement experience

  • Must be extremely collaborative and comfortable dealing with ambiguity, influencing across multiple complex organizations, creating effective internal business partnerships

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, have excellent attention to detail, and work effectively under deadlines
