Engineering Project Coordinator

job summary:

An Engineering Project Coordinator is needed for an American social media conglomerate corporation in the Redmond, WA area. This position will assist the technology development activities to design advanced optical components for AR/VR displays and build and characterize demonstrators to validate the optical design.

  • Work with the research teams to map out the scope, and identify constraints, dependencies, and risks.

  • Work with the research scientist lead to build the tactical project plan, create schedules, milestones, and deliverables, based on the strategy and high level objectives and key results.

  • Breakdown the complexity of the technical program to enable a clear understanding of the scope and deliverables to a wider audience of team members and support functions.

  • Drive the execution of the plan and manage the day to day activities of the program.

  • Assist with tracking progress and keeping dashboards updated for development work both internally and with development partners.

  • Identify resources needed and work closely with team leaders to maintain full visibility of the project schedule and potential roadblocks.

  • Work with finance and purchasing on onboarding suppliers, getting proposals and quotations, placing orders and tracking deliveries.

  • Work with Partnership Management and Academic Relationships teams to establish external engagement and track progress of SOWs. Manage projects with suppliers and partners from writing statements of work to final deliverables in collaboration with support functions such as Partnership Management and Academic Relationships Legal, and Procurement.

  • Report program status and highlight risks to management team

  • Manage creation of quarterly technical review content

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in optical engineering, materials science, engineering, or similar field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a program manager (or related role) in the optics or photonics field, preferably in the display industry.

  • Self-starter with strong analytical and organizational skills.

  • Able to create clarity within complex and ambiguous situations in a highly technical setting.

  • Ability to understand and communicate technical information to non-experts.

  • Experience with constructing work breakdown structures for development of schedules and resource planning.

  • Excellent communication skills for sharing executive updates as well as detailed plans.
