Microsofts Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Capacity, Supply Chain & Provisioning (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. Our mission is to deliver the worlds computer with an industry-leading supply chain with sustainability and security top of mind. CSCP is responsible for sustainability, strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, decommissioning, and dispositioning of datacenter assets and components worldwide.
CSCP supports Microsofts comprehensive portfolio of cloud services including Azure, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Security, Dynamics 365 and industry solutions. The Cloud Sourcing, Sustainability, Spares and Security organization within CSCP manages sourcing and supply of hardware for the data centers. As Microsoft scales to become the global leader in cloud deployments and services, we are embedding sustainability across the product lifecycle by deeply understanding the environmental impact of our supply chain and cloud hardware underpinning our cloud growth. With scientific and data centric approaches we are leading a sustainability transformation, leveraging a multitude of data sources and information to successfully reduce environmental impact through cloud products, software and hardware engineering, engagement with suppliers and enabling a supply chain transformation. This role will be critical to leading this transformation, helping to develop and implement our cloud sustainability program end-to-end. The right person will drive the team forward to meet Microsoft commitments for becoming carbon negative and zero waste by 2030 while enabling all lines of business with data to track progress towards these goals and enable innovative sustainability products and solutions. We are looking for a Director, Sustainability Program Management to partner across organizations to lead and drive the sustainability vision and program forward
Responsibilities
As a Director, Sustainability Program Manager, you will be responsible for the following:
Monitor industry and supply chain trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices to develop Cloud supply chain sustainability multi-year roadmap of programs/projects to meet sustainability targets.
Establish the sustainability program management office (PMO) for Cloud Sustainability programs and projects, track progress, and delivery of expected benefits and report progress status and challenges to leadership..
Create communication playbooks for communicating program status and sustainability metrics and reporting
Lead sustainability team and oversee the delivery of sustainability targets and Microsoft's commitments relating to greenhouse gas emissions, packaging, waste from operations and hardware packaging Build the foundational processes and infrastructure to drive a sustainability transformation across the cloud supply chain and to provide sustainability data to engineering organizations to drive cloud hardware and software optimization
Parter with cloud supply chain teams to develop requirements and provide sustainability insights to transform core supply chain processes across the cloud value chain from procurement to hardware end-of-life
Determine priorities for tool requirements through understanding business dependencies and tradeoffs. Advocate for appropriate resourcing to deliver on organizationally aligned priorities
Influence cross-functionally and laterally to educate, gain support and embed sustainability agenda into all aspects of the supply chain organization
Engage with cross functional teams and other senior supply chain leaders to gain buy-in and support execution to address and support sustainability programs and issues
Lead collaboration across diverse teams to motivate groups to collectively meet sustainability objectives
Design, develop and implement training and awareness programs for CSCP organization to embed SC sustainability into CSCP culture
Recruit, develop and mentor both direct and indirect reports to support and develop wider sustainability skillset
Partner closely with Microsoft Azure, Cloud for Sustainability, M365 and Industry Solutions customer facing product teams to enable and co-develop customer products driven by cloud sustainability data
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, material science, sustainability, climate, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
OR equivalent experience.
4+ years people management experience including leading program management teams
3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
4+ years of experience in any of the following: sustainability, climate, energy industry or leading supply chain transformations
Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years people management experience
Demonstrated understanding of the cloud business, cloud hardware, and the cloud supply chain
Experience with Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emissions accounting, circular economy principles, and developing sustainability methodologies used for calculating environmental impacts
Comfortable navigating, transforming, and managing large, complex, and ambiguous projects spanning multiple company divisions with high levels of visibility
Demonstrated program management skills, including ability to direct multiple programs
Technical Program Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
