The Social team in Microsoft’s Consumer Marketing Organization is reshaping how we tell stories on social channels. We need a highly creative, passionate, and energetic leader to join us.

The Director, Social Media will lead social media for Microsoft Copilot, Windows, Surface, Edge, Bing and Microsoft 365, covering organic and paid campaigns, creator and influencer campaigns, and community management, with competent measurement and analytics. You will be very creative, agile, savvy, and love social media.

You will define the vision for how Microsoft consumer brands engage on social media. You will oversee content development with internal and external teams. You will collaborate with marketing leads, web, media, PR, consumer insights and global product marketing to create social, influencer, and creator campaigns. You will coordinate with our commercial and international partners to ensure consistency and alignment. You will manage our social media agencies and deliver content and campaigns across platforms like TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn. You will put our fans first in all your executions.

Most importantly, you will create and shape the social strategy for Copilot, which will define this brand and become the benchmark for Consumer marketing at Microsoft. Build a team of writers and community managers, develop a cultural engine for GenZ insights, and take risks to make Copilot mainstream.

Responsibilities

  • Lead social media efforts for Microsoft Consumer marketing across audiences, platforms, and events. Define and measure the social media strategy and its implementation.

  • Develop the Copilot brand and presence on social media. Build a team to transform our go-to-market strategy in this channel, including brand persona, content strategy, comment strategy, experimentation, social listening and analytics, and experiential extensions.

  • Lead creative social media content and creator activations across owned, earned, and paid channels, with a pulse on internet and pop culture. Partner with relevant stakeholders to ensure program effectiveness.

  • Lead engaging customer social media and creator experiences by tracking feedback, working with support teams, and leveraging industry, market, and competitor trends.

  • Lead process and partner integrations with PR, Integrated Marketing and Product Marketing to align with marketing goals and leverage synergies.

  • Lead relationships with social media platforms and agency partners to deliver a social media content strategy, aligned with the editorial calendar and campaigns, and produce all content required for social media campaigns and activations.

  • Lead social media listening and analysis to optimize campaigns and programs. Lead measurement methodology and reporting across all social media campaigns and programs.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 5+ years integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related work experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years people management experience (people, project, process, vendor, change).

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 7+ years integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 3+ years integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related experienceo OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years people management experience.

  • Demonstrate successful campaign development; creative and strategic solutions, execution of initiatives, and the ability to operate at different altitudes with stakeholders across several organizations when required. 

  • Experience leading and executing projects in a complex organizational environment and working on several diverse projects at the same time. 

  • Maintain good judgment in fast-paced, high-stress environments and excel in an ambiguous environment, orchestrating strategic and complex business activity. 

Integrated Marketing M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $248,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $268,900 per year.
