Microsoft Corporation Director of M365 Core Product Marketing in Redmond, Washington

The Director of Microsoft 365 Core Product Marketing will be at the helm of driving the Microsoft 365 suite business , a role that is pivotal to the continued success and growth of Microsoft’s Modern Work business. Microsoft 365 has established itself as a leader in the productivity space, with over 345 million paid seats across business, education, and consumer segments.. With the integration of transformative AI capabilities through Microsoft 365 Copilot, the suite is poised to redefine productivity, offering users an unprecedented level of assistance and efficiency.

This role will be responsible for steering the suite toward increased adoption and revenue growth , leveraging the power of Copilot and our suites’ comprehensive offerings. The expectation is to build upon the suites’ robust foundation, ensuring that every customer, whether they are at the forefront of AI adoption or just transitioning to cloud-based solutions, experiences the full value of Microsoft 365.

This is a highly visible people manager role that will require demonstrated capability and expertise in several areas:

  1. The productivity software market, including SaaS and traditional on-premise solutions

  2. Keen competitive trends understanding and insights

  3. Developing relationships with R&D and partner and sales organizations across the company, and broadly across the industry

  4. Effective executive presence with corollary presentation, written, and verbal communication skills

  5. Model, coach, and care as an empathetic and exceptional manager aligned to the Microsoft values and business expectations

Responsibilities

The Director of M365 Core Product Marketing is responsible for defining and guiding our marketing investments in the core Microsoft 365 suites and associated motions. The following are the primary accountabilities of the role:

  • Define short-term and long-term market opportunities for Microsoft across the core business, including new investment areas and existing programs we should super-charge (or shut down)

  • Deliver R&D feedback and shape engineering product plans representing business opportunity and customer and partner product needs, including industry shifts and competitive trends

  • Demonstrate thought leadership and customer obsession through interaction with our customers, partners, industry analysts, and press

  • Connect suite component teams and marketing motions to ensure a cohesive approach for our customers, including synthesis across customer need mappings, value props, and strategy

  • Design and execute marketing plans to grow measurable market traction for the dark to cloud and core suite motions

  • Introduce new solutions and licensing to our current and future customer base

  • Work across the broader Modern Work team and internal partner organizations such as Global Partner Solutions (GPS), Finance, and Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions (MCAPs), to deliver cohesive and effective go-to-market plans

  • Drive business stewardship and product marketing depth across a number of focus areas, including: customer composition across adoption types, key customer segment requirements (e.g., regulated industries, Sovereign cloud, government), core suite functionality, and IT admin-related features

  • Manage, support, and grow a team of product marketing professionals that are aligned to specific programs and levers that drive Microsoft 365 core growth

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years experience in business

  • OR Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 4+ years experience in business

  • OR equivalent experience

  • 4+ years direct people management experience or indirect people management experience (or virtual teams)

  • Experience & knowledge of productivity and Saas marketing

  • Experience with enterprise software sales cycles and key channels

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 12+ years experience in business

  • o OR Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 8+ years experience in business

  • o OR equivalent experience

  • 6+ years people management experience

  • Successful history of driving market-aware and market disruptive business outcomes

  • Successful track-record of cross-functional collaboration with teams, internal, and external stakeholders across multiple seniority levels

  • Established track record in planning and orchestrating strategic and complex business activities

  • Ability to excel in an ambiguous environment and re-prioritize to align with business objectives

  • Analytical and communication skills with the ability to influence

Product Marketing M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $124,800 - $242,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $159,000 - $264,000 per year.
