We are looking for a Director of Business Management to lead an organizational planning team driving a global yet lightweight approach to planning. This role is responsible for the operational excellence necessary to orchestrate this at scale, will embrace an agile approach to get the simplest, most efficient rhythms and supports the consistent practices across teams.

This role will partner across a broad set of teams in Microsoft, will help to shepherd development of planning outputs including roadmaps. Our ideal candidate has an affinity for cloud technology with knowledge of Agile processes associated with taking cloud services from design to delivery and has communication, product, and project management skills. You have a passion for putting the customer first, identifying opportunities to improve internal processes to build better products with the right rhythms and cadence, using a variety of methods to achieve results. In this role, you will be a key leader in our horizontal team collaborating with product and engineering leaders across Azure.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic bridge across Microsoft organizations, providing thought leadership and facilitating collaboration for key product planning initiatives.

  • Define and drive aligned approach to product planning across Cloud + Artificial Intelligence and within Azure teams.

  • Oversee overall product planning framework, improvements and lead organizations through rhythms and key planning moments to align engineering and product teams on roadmap and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).

  • Apply knowledge of agile and scrum methodologies to guide organizational change to continuous planning, ensuring dynamic roadmap; experience in Azure DevOps (ADO), Jira or other tools.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 8+ years of experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years management (e.g., people, project, process, vendor, change) experience.

  • 3+ years project experience on Agile and scrum.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional / Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 12+ years experience in program management , process management, process improvement

  • OR Master's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 10+ years program management experience, process management, process improvement

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 8+ years people management experience.

  • 10+ years in program management, including end-to-end planning of cross-organizational projects, or portfolio related work.

  • Proven experience with Agile project management (SAFe or other Agile certification an advantage) and change management programs.

  • Experience influencing outcomes through partnerships across multiple divisions.

  • Demonstrated ability to come up-to-speed quickly on a new technical domain.

Business Program Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $299,400 per year.
