Microsoft Corporation Director, Currency Risk Management in Redmond, Washington

Global Treasury & Financial Services (GTFS) is a global team that supports the digital transformation journey of Microsoft’s customers, partners & vendors by providing credit and payment solutions to support revenue growth while managing credit risk. We are a compliance first organization with customer obsession and deal economics focus. We support $120B in trade receivables and $11B in payment solutions per year in global markets. The team is also charged with managing over $130B of investment portfolio, currency risk, bank account infrastructure and business risk insurance.

GTFS is seeking a Director, Currency Risk Management. You will provide thought leadership and collaborate with key stakeholders across the Company supporting our strategic investments, as well as foreign exchange policy and management. This role is for those who have demonstrated success in taking an end-to-end perspective and oversight over the entire spectrum of foreign exchange operations, policies, and exposures.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Foreign Exchange (FX) policy and strategic dialogues with stakeholders around currency of pricing and payments for customers and vendors.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the company to drive a holistic view on FX management including hedge execution.

  • Generate awareness of sources of FX risk and support the business on FX solutions with partners and customers.

  • Lead and manage the strategic portfolio and FX risk management in alignment with company objectives and industry best practices.

  • Work closely with Corporate & Business Development to develop and execute risk management and monetization strategies for Microsoft’s strategic investments.

  • Lead strategic investment hedging management, disposition & strategic OI&E forecasting.

  • Oversee the Nonqualified Deferred Compensation Plans (NQDC) hedging program execution and strategy.

  • Partner with external financial institutions to stay informed about macro developments to ensure we can make informed decisions.

  • Collaborate with GTFS Reporting team and Treasury Controller team on monthly and quarterly business close processes.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business AND 10+ years experience with background in treasury or finance.

Additional or preferred qualifications:

  • MBA (Master's in Business Administration); AND 10+ years experience with background in treasury, finance, banking, or accounting.

  • 10+ years of finance or corporate treasury experience with at least 6 years of experience in foreign exchange risk management.

Treasury M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $299,400 per year.
