The Missiles and Munitions (M&M) group, within the Sensors, Guidance and Navigation (SGN) Center of Excellence (CoE), has an immediate and exciting opening for a Advanced Systems Engineer to be part of a leading-edge technology development team for inertial navigation products.
This position entails system design and development of Inertial Measurement Units (IMU) and Inertial Navigation Systems (INS), supporting both new product development and next generation upgrades of in-service products. Target product platforms will include missiles, munitions, aircraft, marine, and other commercial applications. The role will require interaction with external customers in order to facilitate the completion of products to customer specifications. Further, the candidate will help develop and define engineering processes across the Sensing Guidance, and Navigation Center of Excellence (COE).
The candidate must have a strong background in Systems Engineering methodology. She/he must be able to demonstrate ability to manage project tasks, including budgets and schedules, and determine engineering risk and mitigation plans. The candidate must be able to collaborate with engineers both locally and remotely and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. In addition, this position requires strong leadership skills and project leadership experience. The primary location for this position is the Honeywell Aerospace facility in Clearwater, Florida
Technical focal supporting the evaluation of product design, integration, and qualification activities for new inertial navigation products for internal R&D and customer funded programs
Requirements definition, evaluation and trade studies
Requirements writing, validation, and test planning/execution
Systems architecture, design, integration and analysis
Ensure design objectives and quality requirements are met for new development products
Prepare, review, and approve of technical documentation and deliverables
Works closely with Program Managers, Customer Business Managers, and customers to create and evaluate opportunities to develop new products
Function as a technical focal with external customers supporting new product development and communicating technical status
Develop and maintain long-term technical relationships with key customers to gather competitive intelligence and identify new business opportunities
Execute in a cross-functional team setting (interfacing with mechanical, electrical, software, test, etc.)
Calibration of inertial sensors and inertial systems
Evaluation of sensor & system performance – ex: reading and understanding Root Alan Variance (RAV)
Generating and presenting high level (executive level) and technical (details) information
YOU MUST HAVE
Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Physics, or related Engineering discipline
Due to export controls and ITAR products, candidate must be a US citizen and have the ability to obtain a Secret clearance
5 years engineering experience
Data analysis using Matlab, Simulink, Mathcad, Minitab, and/or Mathematica
Experience with Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint
Experience in systems guidance and navigation testing and analysis
Project Lead experience
Knowledge of the systems development lifecycle
Individuals that quickly analyze, incorporate and apply new information and concepts
Model based system engineering capability
Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done
Ability to adapt dictated by project changes
Multi-tasking and the ability to manage a variety of complicated tasks
Familiarity with Department of Defense programs and processes
Knowledge of customer and industry standards related to electromechanical products including shock, vibe, EMI/EMC, temperature, humidity
Able to do root-cause problem analysis and corrective action development
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Working knowledge of software development as an engineering discipline, including some programming skills
Understanding of INS/GPS systems with emphasis in simulation and analysis, Kalman Filtering design, inertial sensor analysis techniques, differential GPS, and classical controls
Experience with DOORS, ClearQuest, ClearCase, TeamCenter, Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint, Mathematica, Solid Works
Six Sigma Green Belt certification
