Weyerhaeuser Harvest Planner in Rainier, Washington

We have a unique and exciting opportunity for a Harvest Planner to join our Western Timberlands North Washington Region team. As a Harvest Planner, you will be accountable for balancing long term strategic harvest plans with near term tactical harvest plans and business objectives to create sustainable financial returns. A critical part of your role is leveraging strong cross-functional partnerships and reliable data and tools to inform our harvest plans and drive sustainable business decisions. Your responsibilities will include harvest unit selection, design, and constraint management for the North Washington Region.

The Harvest Planner role reports directly to the North Washington Region Manager and works closely with Western Timberland's Director of Inventory and Planning along with a wide spectrum of Western Timberlands stakeholders. The targeted office location for this role is Rainier, Washington. It is a full-time, exempt position, and salary level is dependent on skills and experience.

Key Functions

  • Build and maintain tactical harvest plans for the North Washington Region
  • Constraint tracking and sensitive area planning related to threatened and endangered species, ecologically special sites, aesthetics, and cultural and historic sites
  • Actively participate in developing the region’s strategic plans and roadmaps
  • Develop performance monitoring tools aligned to the region’s roadmap
  • Provide necessary data and coordination with the Timberlands strategic planning teams for harvest modeling processes to optimize financial returns
  • Manage harvest data and timelines to support the roundwood market planning process
  • Maintain the harvest plan GIS layer using the resource management system (FMS), ArcMap, and the tactical wood flow program
  • Support asset valuation projects
  • Provide direction and leadership across functional teams in balancing multiple goals to optimize business solutions related to harvest scheduling
  • Provide a high level of customer support to and build effective working relationships with important internal and external customers

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Forestry, Forest Management, or related field OR related experience in lieu of education

  • At least two years of related field experience
  • Strong commitment to safety, sustainability, customer satisfaction and teamwork
  • Knowledge of state and federal safety, wildlife, water, and forest practice rules/statutes
  • Knowledge of Weyerhaeuser proprietary systems (FMS and TWP) is desirable
  • Strong computer skills in applications such as Excel, MS Word, Database, and ArcGIS related products
  • Basic understanding of Pacific Northwest log harvesting activities including setting layout, road construction, cutting, logging systems
  • Ability to scope, plan, collect and analyze data to optimize operational decisions
  • Willing and able to frequently travel to operational areas throughout North Washington region
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of individuals and groups effectively in a team-based environment
  • Working knowledge of the basic principles of business economics, and the ability to apply those principles within the timberlands business
  • Ability to facilitate and lead project teams collaboratively to optimize business results

What We Offer

Compensation:This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $79,330 - $118,995 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement:Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

Paid Time Off or Vacation:We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
