The Research Associate II is a hands-on, experimental science position with a focus on basic research in technologies combined with supporting current product development efforts. Requirements: *B.S. in biochemistry, molecular or cellular biology or a related discipline *2-4 years of hands-on experimental experience *Experience with oligonucleotide detection methodologies, chemistry, and conjugation desired. *Experience with fluorescence detection, dyes and chemistry a plus. *Experience with analytical and preparative SEC-HPLC highly preferred. *Experience with RNA and DNA sample preparation, genomics and a wide variety of nucleic acid protocols *Experience with liquid handling robotics and high-throughput assay development. Essential Functions: Design, carry out and interpret experiments with limited supervision Organize and communicate results to supervisor and senior management verbally and/or in writing Perform 80-90% bench work on specified projects Work cooperatively in a product-oriented team environment Deliver results under tight timelines Present data to product development teams and management representatives Write protocols, experimental summary reports, quality documents and other scientific literature associated with projects Analyze data sets using spreadsheets and/or other data analysis packages Maintain and manipulate DNA, fluorophores and complex reagents associated with your research Assist in assay and reagent development for multiple product lines Carry out pilot production, scale up and stability tests for complex reagents Target Base Salary Range: $53,000-$76,000 Base salary is an integral part of NanoString's total compensation package. Base salary considers an individual's skills, experience, and competitive market value. The base salary range represent what NanoString pays for a job within a salary grade based on external market data in comparison to similar positions from other companies in our industry. Employees generally enter a salary grade at the lower-to-mid-point in the range. Other compensation elements include a discretionary annual bonus, incentive compensation for sales roles comprehensive benefit plans and paid time off, including designated holidays.
