INSTITUTE FOR SYSTEMS Postdoctoral Fellow in Queen Anne, Washington
The Hood group is seeking an outstanding Postdoctoral Fellow to work as part of an interdisciplinary team that uses human data to understand the biological underpinnings of longevity and scientific wellness, and to develop potential drug interventions for wellness and disease. We are seeking applicants with diverse skillsets in systems biology, molecular biology and data analyses. These skills will be applied to creating drugs for data-driven (genome/phenome) health. The applicant will also be involved in the development of a new strategy for generating peptide drugs at scale, inexpensively and effectively. This effort will involve the creation of large-scale libraries of genes encoding peptides, the use of phenotypic selections, and the exploration of the transcriptional properties of the individual peptide drugs in 50 or more different human cell lines. These efforts will interface with many other activities in data-driven health that are being carried in the Hood laboratory. Who should apply? Applicants must have (or soon be granted) a PhD, and successful candidates will have cross-disciplinary training in systems biology, molecular biology, computational biology, biostatistics, applied mathematics, or a related field. Experience with human research is desired but not required. Strong analytical skills, a track record demonstrating scientific creativity, excellent communication skills, and the potential to thrive in an interdisciplinary research environment are essential. Applicants should include a CV and a brief (one page) cover letter summarizing their background and future research interests. ISB is an equal opportunity employer.
