Waste Connections General Laborer in Puyallup, Washington

We have an immediate position available for a General Laborer at our LRI Hidden Valley Recycling Facility in Puyallup, WA.

In this position, you will have many tasks, but your main duties may include advising customers of acceptable material and depositing them in the proper location, directing traffic, operating site ancillary equipment, site housekeeping, and maintenance associated with the site control systems for stormwater, and leachate management.

If you don't mind getting your hands dirty and are a self-motivated, hard-working individual with good communication skills, we want to talk to you.

Starting pay will be $22.00 per hour with regular wage increases.

This position operates on a Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday schedule.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manual labor includes paper picking and keeping landfills clean and presentable.

  • Traffic management.

  • Perform yard work, including cutting weeds.

  • Install temporary wind fences as required.

  • Perform general office maintenance and repairs, including painting and janitorial work.

  • Working outside in all weather conditions.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Work involves constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and loud noises

  • Extensive physical activity. It requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling is required for objects over 50 pounds.

  • The work environment involves exposure to hazards or physical risks, requiring basic safety precautions.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules, promote the Company’s safety standards, and work with a sense of honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness.

  • Ability to adhere to work schedule and follow through on challenges as they arise

  • Minimum one year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
