Summary of Duties:

 

Under general supervision, the Truck Driver 2 performs a variety of duties in support of the University Stores warehouses. The responsibilities of this position include; but are not limited to: providing customer service by pickup and delivery of items such as maintenance supplies, furniture, custodial goods, construction materials, liquid nitrogen, gasses, enzymes, molecular products and hardware; load and unload vehicles, organize materials in warehouses; process pick tickets; use forklift, hand truck and/or hand carry freight and supplies to destination. Additional responsibilities include operating a variety of equipment such as a step van, pickup truck with tommy-lift, a variety of forklifts, and passenger type vehicles. This position will also occasionally assist University Stores and Chemical Stores walk-in customers. Use a 2-ton truck with cargo box, 3-ton flat bed, fork lift, electric and manual pallet jacks, hand trucks, and wheel dollies to deliver palletized and heavy freight on WSU campus.

Required Qualifications:

 

• Possession of a valid driver's license AND at least one (1) year experience working as a Truck Driver 1; OR equivalent education/experience.

 

• Physical ability to handle 700lb locksets (equivalent to 75-100lb exerted weight) on daily basis.

 

• Experience with and understanding of the handling and distribution of gases, chemicals, and hazardous material products.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• One (1) year of experience as a truck driver or warehouse operator.

 

• High School Diploma or the completion of a GED equivalent.

 

• Knowledge of WSU policies and procedures.

 

• Experience operating light trucks, fork lifts, 2- and 3-ton trucks and related equipment.
