Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Test Engineer in Pullman, Washington

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories is looking for a professional, innovative, and detailed-oriented individual for a Test Engineer position with the Manufacturing Test Infrastructure team in Pullman, WA. SEL is a 100 percent employee-owned company specializing in creating and manufacturing digital products and systems that protect, control, and automate power systems worldwide. The successful candidate must be dependable, responsible, and a self-motivated, hands-on test engineer.

This position will work with a dedicated team to develop, implement, and troubleshoot hardware, systems, and software for custom, automated test systems. In addition, this position works directly to support production testing on the manufacturing floor. As a Test Engineer with SEL, you will receive the support and tools to develop your skill set and grow your career.

As a Test Engineer, a typical day might include the following:

  • Evaluating new test technologies and methods.

  • Determining Design for Test (DFT) specifications and coordinating with engineering staff on new product design.

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining test hardware and strategies for new and existing products that meet corporate objectives.

  • Training production testing staff in function, design, and maintenance of all testing processes on the production floor.

  • Gathering and analyzing test data to improve test coverage and efficiency.

    This job might be for you if:

  • You have an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.

  • Experience in writing test procedures and test documentation.

  • You possess excellent writing and speaking skills.

  • You enjoy learning new skills and assuming new responsibilities.

    Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience designing and developing production tests is a bonus.

  • Defining DFT features for in-circuit test.

  • Automation of tests on PCA and product level test applications through software, hardware, and systems engineering.

  • Design and construction of bed-of-nails test fixtures.

  • Real-time test troubleshooting.

  • Engineering leadership.

    Pay Range Data

    We base our starting pay offer on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills. The salary range for this position is between $69,100 and $108,100 annually. Our ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location.
