Available Title(s): 237-NNFACULTY - Adjunct Faculty Paid, 270-NNFACULTY - Assistant Professor, 395-NN_FACULTY - New Tenure-Track - Pre-Academic Year Business Title: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor | Dairy Cattle Specialist Employee Type: Faculty (+) (Fixed Term) Position Term: 9 Month Position Details: THE OPPORTUNITY: The Department of Animal Sciences within the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resources Sciences (CAHNRS) at Washington State University (WSU) is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and problem- solving research and Extension leader to join an extraordinary team of scientists, educators and extension experts within our department and university. The successful individual will develop an integrated Research (70%) and Extension (30%) program advancing the mission of the Department of Animal Sciences. The term of this tenure-track, assistant professor rank faculty position is a nine-month academic year appointment. In addition to the academic appointment salary, the successful candidate is eligible for additional two months' salary for continuing research and Extension responsibilities. Leave time accounts for the balance of the calendar year. As a faculty member in the Department of Animal Science, the incumbent will develop a nationally recognized and regionally relevant research and Extension program focused on resilient (or sustainable) dairy cattle production systems. The successful candidate will provide statewide leadership for planning, implementing, and evaluating an Extension education and outreach program that focuses on sustainability initiatives related to dairy cattle industry environmental resiliency and/or precision agriculture. The incumbent will extend science-based innovations and technologies to benefit dairy cattle producers, national and regional agencies and the public vested in sustainable dairy production systems. Laboratory equipment and research space will be available at the WSU Pullman campus. The successful applicant will have a familiarity working with multi-cultural and different socioeconomic audiences, an interest in working with a multi-disciplinary team of faculty and with people from diverse backgrounds, and a commitment to the principles of diversity, equity and inclusive excellence.
