Available Title(s): 161-NNFACULTY - Scholarly Assistant Professor - Career, 237-NNFACULTY - Adjunct Faculty Paid, 237-YN_FACSALARY - Adjunct Faculty Paid - Salary Business Title: Scholarly Assistant Professor - Career Track Employee Type: Faculty (+) (Fixed Term) Position Term: 9 Month Position Details: Position Summary: The Department of Educational Leadership and Sport Management at Washington State University (WSU) invites applications for an Assistant Professor, Scholarly Career Track in Educational Leadership position. This Educational Leadership position is located at the WSU Spokane campus in Spokane, Washington. This position is fixed-term, three-year contract, with possibility of renewal. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will begin the appointment on August 16, 2025. Job Duties: The Educational Leadership Program seeks candidates with the potential to make a significant contribution to the field of educational leadership and leadership practice in the state of Washington. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to graduate programs in education by teaching appropriate courses, engaging in outreach and recruitment, advising and mentoring students, chairing doctoral students' committees, and conducting relevant research. Candidates will be expected to teach up to three courses each semester in two or more of the following areas: • culture, diversity and social justice • leadership and organizational theory • instructional leadership • policy and politics • community and communications • law and/or finance. The typical contractual load for a scholarly career-track assistant professor is 60% teaching (three courses per semester), 30% service (outreach/recruitment/program work), and 10% research (percentages are negotiable pending offer). Primary responsibilities include teaching educational leadership courses; engaging in recruitment and outreach with school districts across the region and state; advising master's and doctoral students; and, collaborating in programmatic work with Educational Leadership faculty on the other four WSU campuses. Candidates must be willing to teach with distance learning technologies and at off-campus sites as needed. Secondary responsibilities include engaging in scholarly work, which may include practitioner- and research-focused presentations, publications, and grants. Candidates who can demonstrate engagement in interdisciplinary work, foster collaborations among current faculty, and contribute to diversity, equity and inclusion efforts are especially encouraged to apply. The College of Education seeks applicants who can demonstrate knowledge and ability to work effectively with individuals and groups with a variety of identities, cultures and backgrounds. Required Qualifications: • Earned doctorate in educational leadership or closely related field. • Expertise to teach core educational leadership coursework. • Appropriate experience mentoring graduate students and/or professional educators. • Evidence of ability to work collaboratively with other faculty and PK-12 educators. • Evidence of appropriate contribution to scholarship in the field of educational leadership. • Ability to contribute to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion consistent with the WSU strategic plan.
