Research Technologist 3 Available Title(s): 323J-YNCSNPS - Research Technologist 3 Business Title: Research Technologist 3 Employee Type: Classified Time Type: Full time Position Term: 12 Month Position Details: Summary of Duties: The Washington State University (WSU) Center for Reproductive Biology (CRB) is one of the largest reproductive biology centers in the world. The center provides opportunities for investigators to collaborate, learn from one another, and advance the understanding of reproductive biology, developmental biology, and associated diseases. As the Research Technologist 3 you will work with a collaborative Genomics Initiative team to identify, develop, test, and implement methods for inducing superovulation, culture of embryos, and genetic modifications of embryos from traditional and non-traditional small animal models. In addition to assisting in designing research protocols, planning, and organizing research project logistics, and analyzing results, you will assist in the management of mouse/rat breeding colonies and generation of gene edited research models. Individual is actively involved in lab meetings and presentation of completed scientific work. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field of technology or science and two years experience as a Research Technologist, or equivalent; OR an advanced Degree in an appropriate scientific field; OR equivalent education/experience. • Experience performing professional-level work with scientific research protocols which demonstrates knowledge of research methodologies, protocols, and procedures. • Experimental and analytical skills; understanding and knowledge of research theory. • Experience working with laboratory animals. • Excellent organizational and laboratory management skills and demonstrated attention to detail. • Effective written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to understand and follow laboratory standard operating procedures and other regulatory protocols with consistency and attention to detail. • Demonstrated ability to work as collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team. • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with preparing and administering hormones to mice and rats. • Experience handling rodents and performing routine procedures/surgeries. • Knowledge in the maintenance of rodent breeding colonies. • Experience with following biosecurity protocols. • Ability to learn to use specialized equipment.
