Professional (+) (Fixed Term) Time Type: Full time Position Term: 12 Month Position Details: Summary of Duties: The WSU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences' mission is to improve health in our community through excellence in collaborative research, scholarship, and clinical education, and to develop outstanding health care professionals and scientists. To meet this mission and in support of finding a cure for cancer, Dr. Hui Zhang research laboratory is engaged in a study of Immunology and Cancer Biology and is looking for a Research Intern to join the laboratory. The Research Intern's work will support this initiative by using their learned skills and knowledge including, but not limited to, performing investigative procedures; modifying procedures to accomplish research goals; collecting, processing, and analyzing data; running research protocols; assisting in preparing manuscripts for journals or presentations for conferences. The Research Intern will be working under the guidance of the Principal Investigator (PI) and will assist in complex laboratory/scientific experiments in cancer immunotherapy and analysis of immune functions in mouse models. This includes handling experimental animals, measuring tumor growth, harvesting tissue and organs, isolating cells, DNA, RNA and protein extraction and manipulation, cell transfer, PCR, qPCR, western blotting, flow cytometry analysis, histology, and microscopy. Position Duties:70% Laboratory Research15% Laboratory Maintenance10% Animal Handling5% Miscellaneous Required Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent related field experience performing professional-level work with scientific or clinical research protocols. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Experimental and analytical skills; understanding and knowledge of research theory; interviewing experience; excellent organizational and project management skills. Additional Requirements: • Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Cell Biology or a closely related field. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with common laboratory procedures, such as preparation and standardization of solutions and constructing recombinant plasmids. • Experience with animal handling. • Experience with cell culture. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Experience which demonstrates the ability to work independently and with groups.
