Position Details:

 

Summary of Duties:

 

Use next-generation sequencing methods to investigate the role of ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling complexes and histone-modifying enzymes in promoting DNA excision repair across the genome of yeast and human cells; Analyze data using statistical software, bioinformatics tools and/or and scripts; Present their research through posters or oral presentation and peer-reviewed publications; Design, conduct, and troubleshoot laboratory experiments; Oversee quality control, make suggestions for improvement in techniques and interpretation; Supervise undergraduate and/or graduate students in the lab. Perform other duties as required.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

• Ph.D. in Genetics, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology or a related field.

 

• Experience with gene cloning, PCR, and molecular biology techniques.

 

• Experience in data analysis and bioinformatics.

 

• Experience with DNA, RNA, and protein extraction, and qRT-PCR.

 

• Good computer skills, especially with GraphPad Prism, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, EndNote.

 

• The ability to problem-solve and learn new experimental techniques.

 

• Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.

 

• Basic knowledge of microbiology techniques.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Basic knowledge of R software and single cell RNA-seq is desired.

 

• Experience with next-generation sequencing data analysis and programming is preferred.

 

• Experience with mammalian cell culture is preferred.

 

• Experience with preparing next-generation sequencing libraries is desired.

 

• Experience in the field of DNA repair and/or chromatin is preferred.

Annual Salary:

 

$55,000 - $62,000 | Commensurate upon experience

Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
