Position Details:

 

Summary of Duties:

 

Manage the records section as well as the evidence and property functions of the Police Department. This position is responsible for determining resource requirements, managing resources, and supervising staff in both units and is held accountable for the effective and efficient operations of both units.

Interpret federal and state requirements and regulations to guide the development and implementation of department policies and procedures to ensure compliance in the areas of records maintenance, production, retention, and evidence processing.

 

Responsible for resolving complex and/or difficult records, evidence, and property issues. Plan and carry out work independently and with minimum supervision. Utilize advanced knowledge of laws, policies and regulations as they relate to the support services function of the police department. Responsible for prioritizing and managing issues within designated areas of responsibility. Act as liaison to the University's Public Records Office.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a field related to the functional managerial area which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

 

• Experience with Spillman Record Database

 

• Level II ACCESS certification or the ability to obtain

 

• Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid unrestricted driver's license at time of hire.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills;

 

• Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying laws, rules, policies and procedures;

 

• Demonstrated sensitivity to and desire to promote diversity;

 

• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and software applications.

Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
