Summary of Duties:

 

The incumbent will perform custodial duties to maintain cleanliness and care of facilities within residence halls/apartments/dining. This position performs routine maintenance work on buildings, facilities, and equipment. Successful candidates must be willing and able to perform duties associated with commercial cleaning, painting, spackling/minor patching, wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including operating industrial type cleaning equipment such as high speed buffers, burnishes, shampooers, and vacuum cleaners. Successful candidates must also be willing and able to clean restrooms, classrooms, residence halls, offices and/or similar facilities, as well as move heavy items such as tables, furniture, cleaning equipment, supplies, and other related cleaning devices. This position requires the ability to physically bend, stoop, lift and move items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds; to stand and walk continuously throughout the shift and climb and stand on ladders. Hours may be 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, or 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

• The ability to do required work and the ability to read and write AND six months experience in custodial, general or building maintenance, grounds keeping, or semi-skilled carpentry, electrical and/or plumbing repair work; OR equivalent education/experience.

 

• Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with https://policies.wsu.edu/prf/index/manuals/safety-policies-procedures-manual/sppm-7-10/#four_3 and departmental driving standards
