Summary of Duties:
Working under general supervision, as a member of the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine Office of Research, the Grant and Contracts Analyst independently plans, coordinates and conducts grants/contractual reviews in accordance with GAAP, statutes or regulations. This position will perform a variety of professional financial reviews and analysis of fiscal, grant and budget data including, preparing annual budget projections; developing and monitoring grant budgets; and informing the Grant and Contracts Manager and faculty regarding funding issues. The fiscal and administrative review of proposals requires consultation with principal investigators and funding agencies; preparing actual proposal documents to be forwarded to institution officials. In addition, this position will review and approve budgetary actions facilitating grant and contract awards.
Additional responsibilities include analyzing budget forecasts, interacting with several research centers across WSU; responding to questions regarding sponsor intent and compliance with fiscal or administrative requirements; providing interpretation of regulations and policies to faculty, staff and interested parties; representing the department for research activities; attend meetings with other departments and/or agencies as appropriate.
The responsibilities of the Grant and Contracts Analyst have direct impact on the workload of researcher and the research staff who manage awards, and on the success of procuring awards. The person in this position must be able to bridge the gap between research and administration and must be capable of compiling the data concisely, in a consumable format.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree, which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting and two (2) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent education/experience.
Additional Requirements:
• Experience with fiscal functions including budgets, contracts, and grants.
• Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team in a cooperative effort.
• Demonstrated advanced-level experience using MS Office Suite including Excel and SharePoint.
• Exceptional skills in written and verbal communication, to include fostering a shared understanding of requirements, group resolution, and status reporting.
• Experience with various financial activities such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, travel, cost analysis and/or budget planning.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience and/or knowledge of state and federal laws/regulations pertaining to fiscal management.
