Summary of Duties:

 

The lead position is responsible for assisting payment services and acts in the supervisor's place as needed. The position is responsible for for the completion of payments to suppliers, reimbursements, and expense reports in accordance with university and state policies, regulations, and procedures. This position is also responsible for transactional accounting, technical reconciliations, reporting, auditing, and providing customer support. This position works cross-functionally with the procurement and accounting teams to ensure compliance with internal controls. Provides exceptional customer support as it relates to the reimbursement and payment service functions to both the university community and external partners. This position independently advises university wide departments and administrative personnel regarding applicable policies and procedures and recommends courses of action including alternative solutions. Collaborates with internal and external constituencies to create positive and productive working relationships. Incumbent must be able to interpret and apply complicated rules and regulations to exercise independent judgement.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

• Two years of experience at a level equivalent to Fiscal Specialist 1 AND 15 quarter hours OR 10 semester hours of college level accounting; OR equivalent education/experience.

 

• Five to seven years of accounting, finance, or closely related experience; education may be substituted for each year of relevant professional experience.

 

• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft applications.

 

• Strong communication skills to clearly explain options and solutions to customers.

 

• Strong attention to detail.

 

• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

 

• Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a timely manner in a high-volume environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Work experience with Workday.

 

• Progressive professional experience with increasing levels of responsibility including training and leading others.

 

• 12-24 academic credits in a business discipline.

 

• Familiar with WSU policies and procedures related to Payment Services and Procurement.

 

• Previous professional experience in at Washington State University or another academic institution.
