Fiscal Specialist 1 Title: 151E-YN - Fiscal Specialist 1 Business Title: Fiscal Specialist 1 Additional Titles: Location: WSU PULLMAN CAMPUS Employee Type: Classified Job Family: Civil Service - OT Eligible Position Details: Summary of Duties: The Fiscal Specialist 1 works independently and under general supervision to provide fiscal support for the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication by assisting in the interpretation and application of a variety of rules and procedures in specialized fiscal functions, such as travel, purchasing, account reconciliation, payroll and time accounting, and expenditure control. Uses independent judgement to solve problems that arise within work assignments without direct supervision or approval. Processes daily receipts received thru the mail for Northwest Public Broadcasting (NWPB) and prepares daily deposits. Reconciles daily credit card transactions for NWPB. Compiles resource data and creates reports for periodic external audits and management. Maintains fiscal records and spreadsheets in a variety of areas. Is the primary back-up for front desk reception duties. Assists HR partner with processing new employees and conducting searches. Assists other employees within the Business Office, as needed. Required Qualifications: Three years of fiscal record keeping experience; OR equivalent education/experience. • Demonstrated experience working with Microsoft Office, especially with data in Excel environment. • Demonstrated experience working with confidential and sensitive information. • Demonstrated experience working in an administrative team environment. • Must be detailed oriented. Preferred Qualifications: • College level course work in basic accounting. • 1 year of bookkeeping experience. • Fiscal, administrative or other clerical experience in higher education. • Experience in front desk work including reception and multi-line telephone operation. • Knowledge of Workday and other WSU programs. • Experience with new employee processing, primarily I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification forms and international employee onboarding. • Proficiency with 10-key adding machine.
