The Opportunity:

 

University Marketing & Communications (UMC) seeks a Fiscal Specialist 1 or 2. As the Fiscal Specialist working under a Fiscal Specialist Supervisor, you will provide a variety of fiscal administrative services for units within UMC. You will use your attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks to submit service center billing for multiple units, provide budget analysis, and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures related to fiscal matters. You will also serve as the primary point of contact for other offices and clients. You will perform a variety of personnel duties and will be a contact for communications between hourly workers and supervisors to make sure that routine processes are followed in a timely fashion. Your skill with running reports and working in excel will aid our area in presenting data effectively to supervisors and to clients that use our services. Your ability to communicate effectively and professionally will allow our team to make informed decisions and for our suppliers to have information necessary for them to interact successfully with WSU.

 

Required Qualifications for a Fiscal Specialist 1:

 

Three years of fiscal record keeping experience.

 

Required Qualifications for a Fiscal Specialist 2:

 

Two years of experience at a level equivalent to Fiscal Specialist 1 AND 15 quarter hours or 10 semester hours of college level accounting. OR Equivalent education/experience.

 

Required Qualifications for Both Fiscal Specialist 1 & 2:

 

• Experience with invoice and billing, or other accounting, cash-handling processes.

 

• Evidence of strong interpersonal skills and working collaboratively with others.

 

• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Outlook, and Word

 

• Experience which demonstrates strong organizational and multitasking skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications for Both:

 

• Experience in higher education or other public setting.

 

• Experience working within a large departmental operational or other agency.

 

• Experience providing exceptional customer-centered service.

 

• Knowledgeable in payment card industry (PCI) compliance standards.

Monthly Salary:

 

Fiscal Specialist 1 Range 40 | $3,376 to $4,497 (A-M)

 

Fiscal Specialist 2 Range 43 | $3,619 to $4,842 (A-M)

 

Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
