Fiscal Analyst 3 Title: 143K-YN_CS_NPS - Fiscal Analyst 3 Business Title: Fiscal Analyst 3 Additional Titles: Location: WSU PULLMAN CAMPUS Employee Type: Classified Job Family: Civil Service - OT Eligible Position Details: Summary of Duties: Under general supervision of AVP of Student Financial Services, provides financial accounting and analysis for department operations and for financial aid and scholarships programs. SFS is responsible for institution/state/federal compliant and value-based disbursement of over 350 million dollars annually. Prepares statements and provides general ledger and reconciliation services. Approves new account authorizations for use by institution administration in establishing or amending accounts; Extracts data from the university accounting system and imports data into appropriate tool for monthly financial management reports. Performs data analysis and prepares summary reporting for management decision-making purposes. Provides resource data for financial reports, performing financial analysis and special projects as assigned. Coordinates fiscal procedures with institution administrators, information specialists, department heads to determine methods of improving fiscal procedures and services. Provides fiscal support where independent judgment is exercised to solve problems that arise within financial aid and scholarship financial processes and general ledger functions. Working closely with department leadership and Area Finance, understand the operational and strategic needs and be prepared to assist from a fiscal standpoint, including audit-readiness, reconciliation of funds. This position is primarily based on the Pullman campus with partial hybrid work available. Required Qualifications: • A Bachelor's degree, which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting and two (2) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent education/experience. • Demonstrated experience with data analysis tools • Demonstrated experience with enterprise-wide business systems Preferred Qualifications: • Experience working with executive level staff. • Professional level accounting experience in a non-profit, research, government or higher education institution. • Experience with organizational strategic planning. • Skilled at presenting information, making recommendations, and leading relevant discussions based on fiscal knowledge and analytical findings. • Experience and/or education working with computerized accounting systems such as PeopleSoft Student Administration. • Experience processing Electronic files with the US Department of Education via Common Origination and Disbursement ( COD ) system. • Experience awarding federal, state, and institutional financial aid to students. • Experience auditing, analyzing, and correcting reconciliation errors.
