Fabrication Laboratories Manager Title: 1128-NN - Instructional Lab Supervisor Business Title: Fabrication Laboratories Manager Additional Titles: Location: WSU PULLMAN CAMPUS Employee Type: Admin. Professional Job Family: Administrative Professional - Not OT Eligible Position Details: Summary of Duties: Responsible for supervising personnel and operations for the School of Design and Construction Fabrication Labs. Responsibilities include coordinating, maintaining, and operating lab spaces, tool and equipment; coordinating the instructional safety program to ensure appropriate training in operation of tools and equipment; assisting teaching faculty in delivery of certain courses; continued development of instructional programs for students, faculty, and staff in specific techniques and procedures; training and supervising lab staff, including student lab assistants; maintaining tools and equipment; and ensuring the Fabrication Labs are a safe and welcoming facility for all users. Required Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the discipline which has included at least one (1) year of lead experience. A Master's degree in a relevant field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience exclusive of the lead experience. • Previous experience managing a wood shop. • Previous work experience that includes training and management of employees. • Experience in the development and implementation of safety policies and practices in a shop/workplace setting. • Experience in working with others to develop, design and complete projects. • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, walk between machinery, bend, stoop, lift overhead items weighing up to 50 pounds, push and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds. • Must have, or be able to obtain at time of hire, a valid unrestricted driver's license. • Demonstrated knowledge of materials used in architectural environments including: woods, metals, plastics, fasteners, and surface finishes. • Demonstrated knowledge of use and maintenance of analog woodworking machines and tools. Preferred Qualifications: • Demonstrated knowledge of shop and construction practices and skills. • Demonstrated knowledge of programming, use, and maintenance of digital fabrication equipment, including: CNC mills, laser cutters, 3D printers, and others.
