Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. Environmental Health & Safety Intern in Pullman, Washington
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks professional, innovative, and detailed individuals for our EH & S Intern position. This intern position will work with SEL Environmental Health & Safety staff members and other division representatives to support the development and maintenance of environmental compliance and sustainability programs. As an EH&S Intern,a typical day might include the following: * Assisting with data collection and management for EH&S aspects including greenhouse gas emissions, waste management, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, and other health and safety aspects. * Assisting in development and maintenance of procedures (PROC), work instructions (WI), and Best-Known Methods (BKM). * Participating in industrial hygiene and environmental sampling events and prepare associated reports. * Assisting in development and delivery of EH&S training for SEL employees. * Participating in proactive risk mitigation and incident prevention programs. * Assisting in incident investigation to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions. * Researching federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations. This job might be for you, if you: * Are currently pursuing a college degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Human Factors/Ergonomics, or another EH&S-related program. * Are familiar with Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. * Are able to work part-time throughout the year, up to 40 hours per week. * Have strong data analysis, writing, documentation, and speaking skills. * Are able to new skills and assume new responsibilities. * Are able to work cooperatively in a team environment. * Are passionate about Environmental, Health and Safety. * Have background check results satisfactory to SEL and negative drug test result(s). Preferred Qualifications * Experience in SharePoint, Power Apps, Workday, or Power BI. * Knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and other EH&S regulations. * Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, GHG Protocol, and ACGIH. * Experience working in a manufacturing environment. Physical Requirements * Stand and walk for extended periods. * Lift up to 40 pounds.
