Position Details:

 

Summary of Duties:

 

This position is responsible for oversight management of all administration functions within WSU Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) including budgeting, position control, outside contracts, and related financial and resource services, and oversight of the day-to-day administrative support of activities. This position serves as the primary point of operational and administrative contact for internal and external constituencies. The assistant director has substantial responsibility for directing and controlling program operations and is accountable for the allocation of resources and program results. Independent judgment and discretion in work directly related to management policies and department business operations as well as delegated authority to make commitments that affect department operations is expected in carrying out duties in the areas of budgeting, accounting, outside contracts, personnel supervision, and oversight of the day-to-day administrative activities of the program. The EFNEP Assistant Director serves as the EFNEP State Coordinator, participates in statewide and regional project and program development efforts including data research analysis and preparation of the federal 5- year plan of work proposal, and annual federal budgeting and reporting. The Assistant Director provides leadership in personnel planning, hiring, evaluation, professional development, and training.

 

There is an expectation that this position serves as the EFNEP representative in Spokane, WA and may be required to relocate to that location.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

• Positions require a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least one (1) year of managerial experience. A Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

 

• Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment. Positions may require applicable licensure and/or certification.

 

• While using a private or WSU-owned vehicle for official business, must have current automobile liability insurance (meeting the requirements described in https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.30.020 and https://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=46.29.090).

 

• Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with https://policies.wsu.edu/prf/index/manuals/safety-policies-procedures-manual/sppm-7-10/ and departmental driving standards.

 

• Ability to work a flexible, yet structured schedule with occasional night and weekend shifts to meet the needs of program partners and grant requirements.

 

• Employment is contingent upon passing a background screening.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Master's in Nutrition or Public Health
