Professional Position Details: Summary of Duties: The Director of Financial Education assists the Vice Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs (VDSA) and the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs (ADSA) in identifying, implementing, and evaluating university, college, and office strategic goals and initiatives, specifically independently leading those related to student financial education, financial literacy, and scholarship awarding. Creates strategic planning and directs the development, implementation and execution of programs, special projects, and other initiatives designed to achieve the overall mission, goals, and objectives of the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine related to Student Affairs, especially related to financial education and scholarship support, collaborating with the VDSA and the ADSA when necessary. This position will work with all College of Medicine students and has direct authority over student financial education, initiatives to minimize debt, and the financial literacy program. This position also has authority of communicating external scholarships, internships, and other student opportunities for College of Medicine students and providing advice and support to help students complete scholarship applications. Essential Job Functions: 50% Financial Education and Leadership 30% Budget Management and Oversight 15% Talent Supervision and Development 5% Other Required Qualifications: Positions require a Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. One (1) or more years of experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Additional Requirements: • Demonstrated advanced communication and interpersonal skills. • Experience is assisting and educating others with budgeting, debt reduction, investments, retirement planning and setting financial goals. • Experience developing, administering, delivering and/or implementing project(s) or program(s) related to financial management and debt counseling. • Experience with coordination and management of complex on-going projects or programs. • Ability to professionally present information to and counsel diverse and/or large groups of students about a variety of financial topics. Preferred Qualifications: • An advanced degree in a related field. • Credentialed as a Certified Financial Planner, Financial Counselor, Credit Counselor or Debt Specialist certification from an organization such as CFP Board, AFCPE, Center for Financial Certifications, NACCC, NFCC, and NIFE. • Experience in health sciences higher education, preferably at an LCME accredited medical school.
