Professional (+) (Fixed Term) Position Details: Summary of Duties: The Clean Plant Center Northwest (CPCNW), at Washington State University's Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension center in Prosser, WA, is seeking a motivated and qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Director. This person will manage the day-to-day non-scientific areas of the program, including center business (facilitating plant sales and contracted services) and budget management, while seeking new opportunities to grow the center and serve the NCPN and WSU Land Grant missions. Finally, this person will represent the interests of the CPCNW and WSU to external stakeholders including propagators, growers, and state and federal regulators, and will assist with program education and outreach activities. Prospective candidates should have experience in program and budget management, supervisory experience, and scientific training in horticulture, plant pathology or a related discipline. Minimum qualifications are a Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of progressively responsible experience, or a Master's degree with three years of experience. A Doctoral degree in one of the above disciplines is preferred but not required. Experience with state or federal regulatory systems is a plus, as is knowledge of plant propagation and perennial cropping systems. Required Qualifications: • Positions require a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least one (1) year of managerial experience. A Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment. • Positions may require applicable licensure and/or certification. • Scientific experimental and analytical skills; understanding and knowledge of research theory; demonstrated excellent organizational and project management experience and skills. • Attention to detail, and multi-tasking skills. • Experience in federal grant reporting and research and outreach manuscript preparation. • Candidates should have demonstrated skills in excellent verbal and written communication, teamwork, and interpersonal relationships. • Candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Land-Grant system, and be committed to supporting agricultural research and agricultural stakeholders. • Candidates must also have a commitment to core values of excellence, diversity, global involvement, and accountability. • Knowledge of relevant software for effective project management. • Experience developing and tracking budgets. Preferred Qualifications: • PhD in Plant Pathology or related discipline, experience with state/federal plant regulatory agencies a plus. Knowledge of perennial propagation and cropping systems. • Postdoctoral experience is desirable. • Experience with procurement of and/or management of extramural funding. • Agricultural research experience. • Extension and outreach experience. • Organization, management, basic accounting, strong communication skills (written and verbal), and understanding of scientific/agricultural research and grants would be ideal. • Demonstrated experience working with a variety of people at diverse levels. • Experience motivating people to work as a team in harmony with the objectives of the project, and mot
