Professional Position Details: The Opportunity: Provide culturally affirming brief, focused, individual counseling, group therapy and workshops, initial consultations, and crisis assessment to a diverse student population. Provide professional consultation to WSU faculty, staff, and students regarding student behavior, mental health, and academic challenges in order to enhance an inclusive campus climate for student success. Final candidate will be hired as either a Counselor or Psychologist depending on their education and experience. This is a Full time (100% FTE), Permanent position. Overtime eligibility will be determined based on final salary placement. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Required Qualifications: Required for Counselor: • Positions require a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or related field. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. • Ability to become independently licensed as a mental health professional in the State of Washington within 1 year of hire. Required for Psychologist: • A doctoral degree in Psychology, or equivalent including completion of pre-doctoral internship. • Eligibility for licensure as a Psychologist in Washington State within one year. Required for both Counselor and Psychologist: • Excellent generalist clinical skills and experience providing brief, focused counseling services. • Experience working with "high risk" difficulties (e.g. suicide, eating disorders, substance abuse, PTSD) providing risk assessment and crisis appointments. • Experience and commitment to providing services to diverse student populations including, but not limited to, BIPOC students, LGBTQ+ students, undocumented, migrant, and immigrant students, international students, and veterans. • Experience providing clinical services to young adults in an outpatient setting.
