Summary of Duties:

 

Washington State University is seeking a Chair for the Department of Advanced Practice and Community Based Care. The Chair is responsible for organizing and supervising the courses of instruction offered by the department, distributing the teaching and research workloads, allocating and supervising department funds, and the day-to-day supervision of the department.

 

The Department Chair makes recommendations to the Dean for appointments, promotions, and salaries of members of the department, and transacts official department business with the Dean, other administrators, and students. In the case of faculty at remote units, the department Chair shares information and coordinates recommendations with the Campus Coordinator or Academic Director.

 

The Department Chair is expected to provide leadership in the formation of departmental policies and to hold meetings with all available members of the faculty on matters of policy.

 

This position is expected to be located primarily in Spokane, but location near one of the other WSU College of Nursing campuses may be negotiable.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

• Candidates must hold a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD degree.

• Candidates should be eligible to be appointed at the Associate or Full Professor rank.

 

• Eligibility for a(n) (Clinical) Associate Professor is met by at least six (6) years of experience as a(n) (Clinical) Assistant Professor or equivalent. Applicants are also required to demonstrate a national reputation in their field of expertise.

• Eligibility for a Full Professor is met by at least six (6) years of experience as a(n) (Clinical) Associate Professor or equivalent. Applicants are also required to demonstrate an international reputation in their field of expertise.

 

• Candidates must show a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across academic, practice, scholarship, and service missions.

• Candidates must be eligible to hold RN unencumbered licenses in Washington.

• Candidates must demonstrate progressive academic leadership and exhibited strength in both scholarship and teaching.

• Candidates must demonstrate experience in developing new and innovative approaches to nursing education.

• Candidates must show a demonstrated ability to build relationships with industry partners and alumni to benefit teaching, scholarship and community engagement programs.

• Candidates must be experience with accreditation and reporting requirements of nursing academic programs.

• Candidates must show excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Candidates hold certification in a clinical specialty.

 

• Digital education experience, including the use of multiple digital or technology-supported teaching/learning platforms and mechanisms.

 

• Demonstrated experience managing graduate certificate programs.

 

• Experience leading programs that are delivered to students across multiple campuses with necessity
