Summary of Duties:

The Athletics Administrative Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for WSU Intercollegiate Athletics and the Athletics Director\'s Office, responsible for representing the vision and culture of Athletics through superior customer service for internal and external constituencies (student athletes, prospective student athletes, parents, staff, coaches, and the public). This position is part of the Athletics Director\'s Office team, reporting to the Assistant to the AD, and provides executive level administratively support for certain Athletics Senior Staff members as assigned. The position performs a variety of administrative, fiscal, staff support, and planning activities, some of which are confidential in nature and require independent judgment, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity; and assists with follow-up on a broad range of departmental issues. This position must be able to effectively work with a broad scope of individuals and promote a culture that honors diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout interactions with various coaches, staff, students, and administrative personnel in the department and campus at-large. The administrative assistant may be required to use specialized knowledge or skills such as:


• Record keeping, database management, and continuous process improvement.


• Preparing professional written correspondence.


• Knowledge of WSU policies, procedures, and regulations relating to procurement, travel, and facilities.


• Knowledge of and ability to interpret and implement Washington State public records and retention policies.


• Ability to read and interpret rules and regulations related to NCAA Compliance, PAC-12, and collegiate sports participation.


• Working knowledge of the suite of Microsoft 365 products and the ability to create and manage documents in these programs.


Required Qualifications:


• High School graduation or equivalent AND three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in office/clerical, secretarial, bookkeeping, accounting, or general administrative work; OR equivalent education/experience.


• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.


• Ability to multitask and independently manage priorities.


• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.


Preferred Qualifications:


• Proficient in Microsoft 365 products: specifically, Outlook, Teams, Forms, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.


• Demonstrated understanding of the culture and organization of Intercollegiate Athletics.


• Experience working in a higher education or executive office setting.


• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and perform sound decision-making in both low and high intensity environments.


• Knowledge and understanding of applicable rules and regulations of the State of Washington.
