Assistant Professor - Digital Technology and Culture Title: 270-NN - Assistant Professor Business Title: Assistant Professor - Digital Technology and Culture Additional Titles: Location: WSU PULLMAN CAMPUS Employee Type: Faculty Job Family: Faculty - Academic - Not OT Eligible Position Details: The Digital Technology and Culture program at Washington State University invites applications for a permanent, full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Pullman, WA, with a specialty in Mobile, Immersive, and Interactive Technologies and Design. We are especially interested in candidates using digital technologies, platforms, computational methods and creative practices that cross disciplines and that explicitly examine issues related to systemic racism and structural inequities in many forms and modalities. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will begin the appointment on August 16, 2023. Job Duties: This position will join a multi-and interdisciplinary faculty and a growing major. The successful applicant will teach undergraduate courses within their area of expertise. They will have a two course per semester (2-2) teaching load including undergraduate courses and graduate course in the certificate; aid in the management and development of collaborative practices, spaces, and projects that engage the university and other publics; be an active part of the DTC faculty; engage in creative production and research in their areas of expertise; and support current and emerging research, teaching, and creative activities in digital research at WSU system wide, to external communities, and within the region. The DTC program is committed to the retention of faculty and as such the successful candidate will be provided with a faculty mentoring committee within the College of Arts and Sciences and have access to university programs such as the External Mentor Program ( Required Qualifications: • MFA, MDe, MAD, MGraph, or earned Ph.D. in Mobile technologies/platforms, Integrative Technologies, Digital Media, Media Arts, Interactive Media, Immersive technologies, Digital Humanities, or related area by time of appointment. • Demonstrated record of or potential for research and scholarship in Mobile, Immersive, and Interactive Technologies and Design broadly conceived. • Proven or potential for successful classroom and/or individual instruction, mentorship or internship leadership. • Demonstrated commitment to campus, department, and societal diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in mobile application development or production, interactive media, immersive technologies, VR/AR/XR, or related technology fields • Experience working in a studio, lab or collaborative production spaces, on collaborative projects, and/or within collaborative programs; • Commitment to retention of underrepresented students and student-success initiatives.
