Summary of Duties:

 

The Administrative Assistant position provides high-level administrative, general office management, and program support to Academic Directors, faculty, and staff. The duties of the position include managing day-to-day activities with internal and external constituents of the university and managing projects and events.

 

This position is also responsible for personnel duties and will serve as the HR partner in Workday, including managing a wide range of sensitive and confidential personnel and administrative issues, using independent judgement and discretion to ensure the delivery of superior customer service.

Required Qualifications:

 

• One year of experience as an Administrative Assistant 1 OR a Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or closely allied field and two years of responsible office experience at the senior clerical level or higher. Clerical or office work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Graduate study may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

 

• Strong organizational skills and a willingness to take initiative.

 

• Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple programs and deadlines and solve

 

• problems for a wide range of complex tasks.

 

• Demonstrated strong customer service skills.

 

• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including demonstrated productive and collaborative working relationships with a broad range of internal and

 

• external constituents.

 

• Demonstrated experience and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel.

 

• Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple programs and deadlines.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Experience working in an environment requiring high attention to detail.

 

• Experience working collaboratively within a team and across organizational lines.

 

• Higher education experience.

 

• Knowledge of Washington State University including experience with university

 

• policies and procedures, particularly with course scheduling processes and

 

• procedures.

 

• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and function positively in a fast paced

 

• professional environment.
