The Opportunity:

 

As a member of a team of business advisors, in this Academic & Student Success Advisor position you will serve undergraduate business students from the Pullman campus. Working in a collaborative team environment, you will support and educate students through individual and group advising. Recognizing the unique needs of each student, you will help students navigate the higher education environment, set academic goals, understand College admission and degree requirements, including the Carson Career Amplifier Program requirements, and learn strategies for academic success and skill development.

 

In this role, your duties will include but are not limited to: advising undergraduate students year-round; motivating students to set and achieve educational and career goals; conducting workshops and presentations; providing programming that promotes academic success skill development; monitoring students' academic progress; and developing and coordinating student success programs.

Required Qualifications:

 

• Bachelor's degree and two (2) years' experience working with students in an educational setting or related experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

 

• Experience advising students on academic rules and regulations.

 

• Work experience using student records systems (i.e. PeopleSoft, Banner).

 

• Work experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, Zoom.

 

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

 

• Demonstrated ability to remain professional, courteous, and interact effectively with people in a positive manner that engenders confidence and trust.

 

• Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and the ability work collaborative in a team environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Master's degree in related field.

 

• History of providing exemplary academic advising in a virtual environment. Experience hosting virtual meetings, workshops, info sessions using Zoom or Teams, including managing breakout rooms, polling and security features.

 

• Demonstrated working knowledge of learning styles, freshman year experience, retention strategies, and academic success strategies.

 

• Demonstrated strong public speaking skills and the ability to develop and deliver engaging and informative presentations to students.
