Professional Position Details: The Opportunity: As the Academic Coordinator/Advisor, the majority of your responsibilities will include duties such as, but are not limited to academic coordination and advising for prospective and current undergraduate and graduate students in the Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies and Master of Architecture programs in the School of Design and Construction (SDC), assessing academic level; responding to academic inquiries; academic advising including developing individual academic plans; educating students in the areas of academic planning, interpretation of department, school, college and university requirements, degree requirements, career exploration, and other related matters; counseling non-students about possible admission to university programs; providing academic planning advice for prospective transfer students; providing support for processes associated with admission to the major and graduate school. The position has additional duties outside of student advisement essential to the effective operation of academic programs at the SDC, such as participating in program development for academic advising; providing coordination and support for recruitment and retention activities; and contributing to the management of program data collection and assessment activities. This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of full-time academic advising experience at a college or university or related education/experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills. • Demonstrated experience with computer software and programs, specifically the Microsoft Office suite, and ability to learn new software and programs quickly. • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively in a diverse team environment. Must possess strong organizational and time management skills. • Willingness and ability to travel and work evening or weekend hours as necessary for recruitment activities. • Experience with academic advising and related issues. • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver engaging and informative presentations to students and parents. Preferred Qualifications: • Demonstrated experience creating database queries and generating reports.
