Position Details:
Summary of Duties:
The 4-H and Small Farms Education Coordinator is responsible for providing assistance in the coordination of 4-H and Small Farms programs. Duties include coordinating, conducting and evaluating program activities. The Education Coordinator is responsible for recruitment, selection, training, and coordination of program volunteers, and will oversee record-keeping, evaluation, and membership recognition for both programs. This position collaborates with other extension program staff, community partners, and other program constituents to ensure the program and activities meet guidelines/expectations/objectives/policies & procedures of WSU Extension under the direction of the WSU Clallam County 4-H Coordinator and County Director.
Required Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant extension program discipline and two (2) years of related program experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Must successfully pass the WSU 4-H Youth Development/Child Protection Screening Process.
• This position requires the ability to travel and work a flexible schedule during the week including nights and weekends occasionally requiring overnight travel.
• Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with https://policies.wsu.edu/prf/index/manuals/safety-policies-procedures-manual/sppm-7-10/ and departmental driving standards.
• Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
• Ability to compose correspondence, reports, and/or other required written materials.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions, inquiries, and/or complaints.
• Displays courtesy, tact, and respect when dealing with others.
• Willingness to receive direction and follow through on assignments in a timely manner.
• Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
• Meet attendance standards necessary for successful job performance.
• Must be team player, work independently and embrace a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Science including but not limited to Animal Agricultural Education, Agricultural Business, Agricultural Economics, Food Science, Meat Science, Poultry Science, Extension Education or another relevant discipline.
• Three (3) years of related program experience.
• Knowledge and experience in teaching utilizing an experiential learning model (youth and adult audiences).
• Ability to teach workshops, facilitate meetings and evaluate programming efforts offered to diverse audiences that span both youth and adult participants.
