Job Description
Title: Recovery Café Assistant

Supervisor: Recovery Café Program Manager
Salary Range: $17.50-20 Per Hour
General Summary:
This position will provide assistance to Recovery Café's kitchen/food service operations and meal service operations in the front of house.
Days and hours:
This is a part time position; range of 12-16 hours/week. Recovery Café is currently open Tuesdays through Friday 9am -- 4pm. The Recovery Café Assistant will have regular hours of 1pm -- 4pm assisting the kitchen. Additional hours in support of the kitchen or front of house will be arranged with as much notice as possible on an ad-hoc basis.
Responsibilities and Duties:
The Recovery Café Assistant's daily responsibilities in the kitchen will vary, depending upon needs of the day, and may include:
- Assisting to produce meals
- Helping to maintain proper food handling and sanitation
- Dish washing
- Kitchen cleaning
- Garbage and recycling disposal/rotation
The Recovery Café Assistant's daily responsibilities in support of the front of house will also vary according to the needs of each day, and may include:
- Preparing the space for meal service (arrange tables & chairs, sanitize commonly touched surfaces, refill supplies in the dining area and restrooms, sweep & mop floor, etc.).
- Filling in in the 'Kitchen Support' role (i.e. relaying meal service needs/requests to the kitchen, serving food, etc.).

- Current WA state Food Handlers Card.
- Experience working in commercial kitchens within a team and/or cooking at high volumes.
- Knowledgeable with safely operating commercial kitchen equipment.
- General understanding of Health Department laws and practices per state and federal law.
- Ability to lift up 30-50 pounds.
- Experience working in social service preferred.
- Ability to work amicably on a diverse staff team with flexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm.
- Capacity to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with Recovery Café Members and Volunteers.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills sufficient to communicate effectively with staff and other agencies using Microsoft Word, Excel, and email-Outlook.
Education:
Minimum of high school degree (or equivalent); years of experience in human service may be substituted.
