Dove House Advocacy Services Advocate in Port Townsend, Washington

General Summary: 

 

Provides crisis intervention and advocacy to victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and general crime.

 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Responds to crisis calls providing support, information, and referrals when appropriate. Provides after-hours crisis line response as assigned.  

 

Conducts client intake and screening, documenting history and assessing needs and provides individual advocacy to victims of abuse and non-offending relatives. 

 

Provides information or referrals regarding legal issues, medical issues, and community resources. 

 

Responds to emergency situations that may arise, making appropriate independent decisions when necessary. 

 

Collaborates with law enforcement, prosecution, medical and other social service agencies as required to provide response to abusive violent situations. 

 

Completes and maintains all required paperwork for office and client's files in a timely manner. 

 

Attends staff meetings and trainings and performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Programs and Services or the Executive Director. 

 

Participates in a team-oriented work environment. 

 

Adheres to office policies and procedures, including confidentiality. 

 

Qualifications: 

 

  1. Complete 30 hours of initial domestic violence, sexual assault and general crime training and on-going training as required.
  2. Skills in counseling victims/survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and general crime
  3. Knowledge of dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault, and general crime.
  4. Knowledge of how the community responds to victims/survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and general crime.
  5. Knowledge of community resources including legal, medical, and social services.
